2015
About the event:
Project Michal
Michal is by far the best swimmer among our clients. Naturally, he trains regularly in the best company, under the guidance of the best coach - Prof. PaedDr. Yvetta Macejková, PhD - in the FTVŠ pool at Lafranconi. The goal of this project was to practice the butterfly stroke so that he could one day take part in the so-called "royal discipline" - the individual medley, which combines four strokes in sequence: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. By better synchronizing his upper and lower limbs, he has been refining his technique and continually improving his personal times.
From July 22 to August 3, 2015, Michal took part in the Slovak delegation at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles, where he brought home two bronze medals. In October 2015, Michal competed in the 7th Regional Swimming Competition in Bratislava, where he placed 1st in the 100m breaststroke and 2nd in the 50m freestyle.
Project Sofia
Our young instructor Majka Horváthová took on a truly bold plan: to teach our client Sofia how to skate. But it wasn't just about skating itself - the project's main goals were to improve Sofia's posture, refine her walking and stability, help her learn to climb stairs independently in both directions, and strengthen her self-confidence, communication skills, and spatial orientation.
Skating quickly became a favorite activity and a source of motivation to keep improving. Sofia mastered the basics of skating: kneeling down and standing back up on one leg, basic forward skating, gliding forward on both feet, and pushing off to move forward (the "scooter" motion). Through elements of psychomotor therapy, music therapy, and relaxation techniques, she was able to overcome her fear of demanding physical activity and unfamiliar environments. Sofia now cooperates very well. Beyond her physical skills, she has also strengthened her social connections, independence, and perseverance.
